# Your privacy and where your data lives

Your data is stored in Africa, and by default the model that answers you keeps no copy and does not train on it.

## What happens to my chats?

Your conversations are saved in your account until you delete them, and you can view or erase what Nija remembers about you at any time.

## Does Nija keep my data in Africa?

Conversations are saved in the person's account until they delete them; Nija is hosted and stores data in Africa, inference is routed to the model the person chooses, and by default that provider keeps no copy and does not train on it.

## How do I see what data Nija holds about me?

Open Settings, then Your data and privacy, which lists the kinds of personal data linked to your account and splits them into what is removed when the account is deleted and what the law makes Nija keep.

The same page shows where any request you made to delete your account stands.

## How do I get a copy of my data?

On Your data and privacy, press Generate my data export and then Download the file to save a signed copy of the data Nija holds about you.

Verify signature tells you whether the file is still exactly as Nija made it. Your key secrets are never in it, and the full text of one conversation is saved from that chat with its own export.

## How do I delete my Nija account?

On Your data and privacy, press Request account deletion and confirm with Yes, request deletion, and a member of the Nija team reviews the request before anything is deleted.

A reason is optional, and you can cancel the request while it is still open.

Nothing is deleted while a request is on hold, which happens when, for example, you still have credit in your wallet or an open billing question. Financial, tax and consent records the law requires are kept even after the account is gone.

## How do I choose where my requests run and what is kept?

Open Settings, then Data Sovereignty, pick a region under Keep my data in Africa, switch Zero Data Retention and Never train on my data on or off, and press Save.

Both protections stay on unless you switch them off, and a region can be Any region, Africa only or a single country. While a region is set, a chat feature that cannot run inside it is switched off, and the chat says so.

A change applies from your next request.

## Which providers keep no copy of my data?

Zero Data Retention is on unless you switch it off, and while it is on each request goes only to providers that keep nothing once the request ends.

Nija does not name those providers.

Under Data Sovereignty, the Zero Data Retention link says the same, beside the regions a request can be held to.

## How do I choose which messages Nija sends me?

Open Settings, then Communications, and switch each kind of message on or off in the app and by email, apart from account, billing and security messages, which always stay on.

Marketing emails come only if you switch on Send me marketing emails and press Save, and switching it off later stops them without touching messages about your account, your security or your purchases.
